Osteopathy

What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a client-centred system of assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. It is a form of manual therapy, and is often considered a complementary therapy to conventional medicine.
Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (OMPs) recognize that the structure of the body governs how well it can function. Muscles, ligaments, connective tissues and the skeletal structure must be working smoothly together to support the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, lymphatic and nervous systems.
When there is pain or a problem, OMPs look at their patient as a whole, not just as a collection of symptoms. The aim of treatment is to restore health by addressing areas of dysfunction with manual therapy.

Megan Palmer, Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
Master of Osteopathy degree, Post-graduate Diploma for Paediatric Osteopathy from the Osteopathic Centre for Children (UK), Registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) UK, Member of Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (OAO)
Megan graduated from the European School of Osteopathy in Kent, England with a Master of Osteopathy degree after completing a four year, full-time degree involving over 1000 hours of supervised clinical experience. While studying her Osteopathy degree, Megan discovered a passion for the treatment of babies and children. Following this, she completed a two-year post-graduate course at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London, England, which involved over 600 hours of clinic-based training, working in a range of environments from private practice to Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
While treating patients, Megan enjoys using a range of techniques such as joint mobilization, articulation, stretching and cranial osteopathy. She likes to ensure that the patient as a whole has been considered, making sure that she doesn’t just look at the area of pain but looks at all aspects of their life that may be influencing their problem. Megan frequently gives exercises to patients to allow them to continue their rehabilitation at home or gives advice for parents to help their children be more comfortable and settled at home.
